Automatic Driving Lessonsin Camden
Auto-Drive Driving School gives standard automatic driving lessons in Camden, North and Central London: regular weekly lessons that take you from your first drive to test ready.
About our automatic driving lessons
Our most popular option. Regular weekly lessons, typically one to two hours at a time, structured to take you from the basics all the way through to test readiness. We cover everything from moving off and stopping, through to roundabouts, junctions, manoeuvres, and independent driving.
Ideal for: Complete beginners and learners at any stage who prefer a steady, consistent pace.
Learning in an automatic car means no clutch and no gears to manage, so more of your attention goes on the road: reading traffic, planning ahead and making good decisions. For many learners in busy central London, with its stop-start traffic, bus lanes and tight junctions, that makes the early lessons far less stressful.
Every learner is different, so there is no fixed script. We assess where you are on your first lesson and build each lesson on the last, at a pace that suits you. Lessons are taught by our Grade A Driving Instructor, the highest standard awarded by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), in a fully insured dual-control teaching vehicle.
What’s included
Every lesson is one to one, in the car you will learn and can take your test in.
- Lessons with a Grade A DVSA-approved driving instructor
- A fully insured dual-control automatic teaching car
- A lesson plan built around your experience and confidence
- Moving off and stopping, junctions and roundabouts
- Manoeuvres and independent driving
- Local roads, test routes and test centres you will meet on the day
- Clear feedback at the end of each lesson on what to work on next
What to plan before you book
-
Get your provisional licence
You need a valid provisional driving licence before your first lesson. You can apply on GOV.UK from the age of 15 years and 9 months, and start driving a car at 17.
-
Think about your theory test
You must pass the theory test before you can book the practical test. Many learners study for it alongside their first lessons, so both are ready around the same time.
-
Choose a regular slot
Weekly lessons work best at a regular time, so skills carry over from one lesson to the next. Think about which days and times you can keep free.
-
Decide where to start from
Tell us where it is easiest to meet: home, work, college or a station. We cover NW1, NW3, NW5, NW8, WC1, W1, N1 and EC1.
How it works
- 1
Call or request a lesson
Call 07572 923950 or send the contact form with your experience level and when you are free.
- 2
First lesson
We check your licence, talk through your experience and start at the right level for you, somewhere quiet if it is your first time behind the wheel.
- 3
Weekly lessons
Each lesson builds on the last, from the controls through to busy junctions, roundabouts, manoeuvres and independent driving.
- 4
Test readiness
When you are driving consistently on your own, we practise on test routes and help you decide when to book your practical test.
Good to know
-
Automatic licence
If you pass your test in an automatic car, your full licence lets you drive automatic cars. To drive a manual car you would need to pass a test in a manual.
-
Bring your licence
Bring your provisional licence to your first lesson, and wear comfortable shoes you can feel the pedals through.
-
Practice between lessons helps
If you can practise with a family member or friend who meets the legal rules for supervising a learner, it helps lessons go further. Make sure the car is insured for you.
-
Block bookings save money
If you know you will take regular lessons, our 10, 20 and 30 hour packages cost less than paying hour by hour.
What learners say

Just passed my driving test first time today!! Taj is the best instructor you can ask for! I was a total beginner when I came to [Taj's previous driving school] and I never had a single boring lesson with Taj. He is very attentive to details and showed so much care and support during my learning. Thank you Taj for everything! You are THE best instructor!!

Having passed my practical driving test today on my first attempt I cannot thank my instructor Taj enough. I started my lessons with Taj with no previous driving experience and passed with minimal minors.

Taj is my instructor. He is very experienced and knows well how to help beginner drivers. I got my license after first attempt. Would recommend him!
Mike Moon 2025 · Google review · Holborn School of Motoring
Taj taught with Holborn School of Motoring before starting Auto-Drive. Reviews marked Holborn were first posted on Google for that school; words in [square brackets] are ours, and … marks words left out.
