Pass Plus Coursein London

Auto-Drive Driving School runs the Pass Plus course for newly qualified drivers across Camden, North and Central London, building real-world experience after your test.

About our pass plus course

Pass Plus is a nationally recognised post-test training programme that covers six areas of driving not fully tested in the standard practical test including town driving, rural roads, dual carriageways, motorways, driving in difficult weather, and night driving. Completing Pass Plus may also reduce your car insurance premium.

Ideal for: Newly qualified drivers who want to gain real-world experience and potentially lower their insurance costs.

Pass Plus is a DVSA scheme. It is practical training rather than a test: you are assessed as you go, and when you have reached the required standard in every module you receive a Pass Plus certificate. It is designed for the first year after passing, when new drivers are most at risk, but you can take it at any time.

For drivers who learned in central London, Pass Plus is a chance to experience roads they rarely meet in the city: fast country lanes, long dual carriageways and motorways, often in the dark or the rain.

Each module is planned around you. If you already feel at home on fast roads but have hardly driven at night, more of the time goes on night driving; if country lanes are the worry, we head out of town. The aim is the same throughout: to turn a new licence into real, all-round experience while an instructor is still beside you.

What’s included

Every lesson is one to one, in the car you will learn and can take your test in.

  • Module 1: in town
  • Module 2: all-weather driving
  • Module 3: on rural roads
  • Module 4: at night
  • Module 5: on dual carriageways
  • Module 6: on motorways
  • Training in a dual-control automatic car with a Grade A DVSA-approved instructor

What to plan before you book

  • You need a full licence

Pass Plus is for drivers who have passed their practical test. You can take it at any time, but it is aimed at the first year after passing.

  • Allow at least six hours

The course takes at least six hours. Rural, motorway and night modules need longer drives out of central London, so plan for a few longer sessions.

  • Check your insurer

Not every insurer offers a Pass Plus discount. Ask yours, or ask when comparing quotes, before you book if the discount matters to you.

  • Night and weather

If the timing or the weather do not allow a real night or bad-weather drive, those modules can be covered in theory and practised later.

  • Assessed as you go

There is no test at the end. You are assessed throughout and must reach the required standard in each module.

  • Your certificate

Once you complete the course, your Pass Plus certificate is issued and you can show it to your insurer.

  • Automatic car

We teach in an automatic car, the type you passed your test in.
